The can capacity expanded by using operational efficiency, which can be used to analyze current processes also identify weak areas to improve efficiency, and further enhance workflow.

Optimizing inventory levels ensure smooth production flow and avoid unnecessary stockpiling. 

Sony can also outsource certain tasks to external vendors to supplement it’s capacity during peak demand. There also needs to be an understanding of the customer needs and preferences to tailor products and services accordingly. (Tran, 2025) 

 

Does your working company build, lease, expand its present facility, relocate, automate, and so on? Sony does not need to relocate or expand its current facility as they have outsourcing from other companies to help alleviate the workload.  Sony is also manufacturing its own semi-conductor chips in order to save on funds.

 

Will customer demand continue? The demand for the PlayStation will continue as the trend of gaming subscriptions allow users to play games at an affordable price thus having access to more games online. At a monthly price users have access to a larger library of games.

 

Will competitors also increase capacity? Xbox will continue to increase compacity as this is the biggest rival of PlayStation, Xbox pass rivals PlayStation in regards to online networks as Xbox pass also allows users to pay a monthly subscription. There is also a loyal fanbase for the Xbox console.

 

How long will the increased demand continue?

The increase in demand will continue as in the next 10 years it is projected that the market size will reach $50 billion.  Playstation Market Size was estimated at 32.58 billion in 2024 ,the PlayStation market industry is expected to grow from 34 billion in 2025 to 51.68 billion by 2034. The PlayStation market growth rate is expected to be around 4.72% during the forecast period.

 

What is the lost opportunity if your working company fails to meet customer demands?

An example of Sony not meeting customer demand was the PlayStation 5 as there were several delays because of the covid-19 pandemic. This caused Sony to lose $10 billion as their stock plummeted. If the demand is not met, money is lost in the process




                                                        Personnel Analysis:

 

As far as personnel, Sony has over 100,000 employees around the world which represent a wide array of nationalities. Sony also supports employees’ continued growth by providing opportunities for them to improve and make the most of their individual strengths, skills, abilities, and creativity.

 

Should significant layoffs be implemented in an effort to become “lean and mean”? Yes, Sony needs to deliver on expectations from developers and gamers and continue to propel future technology in gaming. The goal is to streamline resources to ensure continued success and ability to deliver experiences gamers and creators have come to expect.

 

 Does the firm need to hire? At this point and time Sony does not need to hire, as the manpower is there to streamline products and make deadlines in order to reach the demand of the consumers.

 

How does management discover and attract talented managers? Sony has an incredible human resources department in which they often reach out to team leaders for feedback. The team leaders are often promoted to managerial positions based on feedback from peers who have supervised the potential candidates.

 

How can substandard personnel be released? Review documentation and proceed to let HR know the employee is performing at a substandard performance standard. From there inform the employee in writing of the write up. The punitive actions are as followed: 

** To withhold for such period as the Employing Authority determines an increment of remuneration otherwise payable to an employee.

** A reduction in the level of classification of the employee.

** Termination of employment.

How are cash flow problems handled? Reducing exspenses analyze spending and identify areas where costs can be cut back. There is also optimizing inventory management, as avoiding overstocking inventory to free up more capital. Cash flow forecasting also helps as when projecting future cash inflows and outflows to anticipate potential problems and make adjustments.

 

Under what conditions does your working company obtain financial backing for capital development?  This is done by showing a stable financial track record, a promising market opportunity, and a competent management team. This will then show potential investors to provide funding through equity investments.

 

 




                                                      Expansion Recommendation:

 

Sony has already expanded internationally, and is doing very well, however there are still untapped markets, 2 in particular are Asia Pacific and Latin America. PlayStation brand has gained popularity in the Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions. This trend is because of rising disposable income, urbanization, and the expanding middle-class in population territory. In this way, emerging markets are seen as the largest target market for PlayStation consoles. As a result, the industry can be observed to invest continuously in the respective regions in the future. Sony Bayesian Analysis

 


Sony Marketing Campaign/Bayesian Analysis

 To say thank you to those who participate with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Sony will be doing a promotional event in beautiful Orlando Florida and the event will take place at Camping World. June 10th 2025, reason for this date is a majority of students will be out of school by June time frame which allows our product to be seen by more consumers.

There will be an online survey to fill out asking what users like about Sony and how we could improve our product. Also asking how long you’ve been using our products, your age, race, gender and what your favorite product is that we carry. Overall the survey will ask how we can improve to make your gaming experience better.

From here there will be 100 winners selected who submit the best answers, and each of the 100 winners will receive a gift card with $200.00 to utilize on the PlayStation Network. Winners will be notified via email that they provide. They will also receive gifts at the event and Sony apparel, these items will equate to over $300.00 in merchandise.

 


An additional 10 responses from the survey will be chosen and will receive $200.00 gift cards and all expenses paid to fly out to Orlando Florida to the Sony event. They will stay in the Bohemian Hotel in Orlando Florida, which is 15 minutes away from Camping World. They will receive Sony apparel, gifts at the event and each be on the waiting list to receive a PlayStation 6 once released in 2026.

All 100 winners will wear lanyards which will indicate that they’re winners and they will all be recognized at the event and a group picture will be taken and placed on the Sony website. At Camping World there will be tents and each tent that is set up, there will be games to win prizes as well as information about upcoming games and consoles with food and beverages from different vendors.

The campaign will last for 8 weeks, this gives us (Sony) time to market the survey on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube, and of course the Sony website and PlayStation network. The website generates about 70 million monthly users, so we’ll get a lot of eyes on the survey and the marketing campaign.

The main purpose of the marketing campaign is to get eyes on the product and to also get feedback from our users, the event is a way to show thanks to our loyal users and to allow our products to be seen.

The cost for the campaign and also the set up at camping world will be as followed:

We (Sony) plan to recoup this money back in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year with the release of new games and more people signing up for PlayStation Network and the purchase of Sony products through the marketing campaign. With the release of over 100 games there will be over 100 gaming studios (gaming developers) at the event, we have the ability to generate $5 million in sales from this event alone. As there are releases that the consumers are very excited about, from Mortal Kombat, to Call OF Duty, to another installment of Resident Evil. Along with virtual reality games and steering wheel mechanisms for racing games, this event will entail and give information on an array of products that the consumers want which will better their gaming experience. This gives us more than enough confidence that we recoup this budget relatively quick.

Target Area Analysis

India has both urban and rural areas as all countries do. So India actively working to expand its semiconductor industry in both areas, driven by the surging global demand for chips and the government’s vision to position the country as a reliable alternative to Chinese and Taiwanese suppliers. 

Notably, the government has established the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) as an independent business division under Digital India Corporation. With administrative and financial autonomy, ISM is tasked with shaping and implementing long-term strategies to develop semiconductor and display manufacturing facilities, as well as fostering a robust semiconductor design ecosystem. There are also plans to attract substantial foreign investments to strengthen the country’s semiconductor sector. NXP Semiconductors plans to invest over $1 billion to expand its R&D operations in the country, while Analog Devices is partnering with the Tata Group to explore domestic semiconductor manufacturing. Micron Technology is building a $2.75 billion assembly and testing plant in the state of Gujarat, which is projected to generate 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 community jobs. India is undergoing a remarkable transformation as more young people embrace technology and connect to the digital world. The adoption of mobile technology is on the rise, with a growing number of rural youths integrating digital tools into their daily lives. 

In rural areas, 95.7% of persons aged 15-24 years can use mobile phones, with the figure being 97% in urban areas. 99.5% of population is covered by 4G in rural areas. Where as in Urban area 99.8% of population has a 4G connection. In rural area, among those aged 15-24 years, 82.1% can now access the internet, showcasing a shift towards a more connected generation.

Although urban areas still leads with 91.8% internet accessibility for this age group, the gap is steadily narrowing. 80.4% of rural youth in the 15-24 age range use the internet the highest percentage recorded in rural India. In contrast, the 15-29 age group in urban areas reported a slightly higher usage at 91.0%, reflecting how digital adoption is gaining ground across both rural and urban settings. This growing trend highlights the rapid technological shift taking place in the heart of rural India, signaling a new era of digital inclusion and empowerment. (Lakaria, 2024)


The digital journey of rural India is steadily advancing, with young people gradually mastering various technological skills. As digital competence grows, rural youth are tackling more complex tasks like copying, pasting, and moving data—67.1% of the 15-24 age group and 65.6% of the 15-29 age group can perform these operations. The use of the internet for information searches is also on the rise, with 60.4% of those aged 15-24 and 59.3% of the 15-29 age group actively searching online.

Expansion Analysis

Sony Interactive Entertainment is always looking to expand the brand more in the marketplace.

India’s population is 1.37 billion, making it the second-most populous country. It is the 19th most-densely populated country, with about 409 people per square kilometer. With a 1.2% population growth rate, India could be the first country to host more than 1.5 billion people. (Masachi, 2021)

This gives Sony the opportunity for more expansion even in rural areas. Semi conductor chips that are produced by Sony are utilized more and more in the urban and rural areas of India.

Rural digital expansion in India is enabling young people to adopt technology, bringing significant changes to everyday life and narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas. With the availability of affordable high-speed internet and various government initiatives, rural youth are becoming more capable of using digital tools for communication, education, and financial activities. This shift represents a growing recognition of technology's role in promoting development and opportunities. As digital literacy and infrastructure continue to advance, rural youth are set to contribute meaningfully to a more connected and inclusive future for the country.

TVs make up 60% of annual revenue, digital imaging with full-frame and professional mirrorless cameras account for 20% of annual revenue. Audio products generate 10-15% of the annual revenue, while gaming has been a resurged as the PlayStation 5 gaming console today generates 10-12% of annual revenue in India. (Das, 2024) Clearly the consumers are there in this thriving market, this is both urban and rural areas where technology is being used on regular basis.
