Expansion Analysis

Sony Interactive Entertainment is always looking to expand the brand more in the marketplace.

India’s population is 1.37 billion, making it the second-most populous country. It is the 19th most-densely populated country, with about 409 people per square kilometer. With a 1.2% population growth rate, India could be the first country to host more than 1.5 billion people. (Masachi, 2021)

This gives Sony the opportunity for more expansion even in rural areas. Semi conductor chips that are produced by Sony are utilized more and more in the urban and rural areas of India.

Rural digital expansion in India is enabling young people to adopt technology, bringing significant changes to everyday life and narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas. With the availability of affordable high-speed internet and various government initiatives, rural youth are becoming more capable of using digital tools for communication, education, and financial activities. (Kumar, Meena, 2024)

This shift represents a growing recognition of technology's role in promoting development and opportunities. As digital literacy and infrastructure continue to advance, rural youth are set to contribute meaningfully to a more connected and inclusive future for the country.

TVs make up 60% of annual revenue, digital imaging with full-frame and professional mirrorless cameras account for 20% of annual revenue. Audio products generate 10-15% of the annual revenue, while gaming has been a resurged as the PlayStation 5 gaming console today generates 10-12% of annual revenue in India. (Das, 2024) Clearly the consumers are there in this thriving market, this is both urban and rural areas where technology is being used on regular basis.
