Forecast & Prediction

** Forecast Analysis

Point out one area in your working company that is in a similar situation to this business dilemma that demands BIA's attention.

With the implementation of the gaming cloud, video game console companies could be in risk of losing revenue as the demand in consoles could decrease over time.

The Cloud is such a large number of computers, tightly connected with fast links, spread far apart. It’s a large number of computers that can be seen infinite computing power, and nearly infinite storage. If one computer on the Cloud breaks, it’s okay, another one can jump in to carry the load.

Cloud gaming is a way to play video games on a remote server, instead of on a local device. It allows you to play games on your TV or mobile device without needing a powerful computer or console. As the Cloud becomes more prominent, PlayStation could see a decline in PS5 sales as more and more gamers are going towards the trend of playing video games with Cloud services. PlayStation Interactive Entertainment can combat this with its own implementation of cloud services available.

With advancements in infrastructure, streaming technology, and input methods. Cloud gaming has evolved from early experiments to mainstream adoption, attracting tech giants like Google and Microsoft. The cloud gaming market has experienced remarkable growth in recent years and is anticipated to continue growing at a CAGR of 46.9%.

In 2022, the market generated $3.4 billion in revenue, projected to rise to $143.4 billion in 2023.

In 2024, the market generated $3.4 billion in revenue, and this figure is projected to soar to $5.0 billion in 2025, demonstrating a significant uptick.

The trend will likely continue to accelerate as we move into the mid-2020s. With the market reaching $7.0 billion in 2025 and doubling to $11.1 billion in 2026.

By 2027, the revenue is expected to surge to $17.0 billion, and this remarkable trajectory is likely to persist, culminating in an impressive $30.8 billion in 2028.

The following years are expected to grow exponentially, with revenue skyrocketing to $45.3 billion in 2029$63.8 billion in 2030, and an astonishing $93.7 billion in 2031.

As we look ahead, the cloud gaming market is projected to continue its upward trajectory. With revenue estimated to reach an impressive $143.4 billion in 2032.

This growth underscores the increasing significance of cloud gaming as it transforms the gaming industry and captures the imagination of players worldwide.

** Risk Avoidance

Suggest how you can help your working company in this dire future. What do you recommend?

In order to avoid the risk of being left behind Sony has to push for more subscribers via PlayStation Network, as of December 2024, the network had approximately 129 million monthly active users, an increase from the 123 million users in December 2023.

** Risk Diagram

My diagram would be and cover the following areas.

Technological risks: Adopting new technologies like AR, VR, and cloud gaming too early or too late can have consequences.

Market risks: Player preferences can change, we’re seeing this with the rise of cloud gaming

Financial risks: Misjudging budgets, revenue projections, or funding rounds can be costly. With Sony missing the forecasted sales in PS5 units sold last year, cloud gaming gives protection if those numbers aren’t reached.

Operational risks: Development delays, talent management, and cybersecurity threats.

Reputational risks: PR mishaps, poorly received games, or allegations against a company or employee.

Sony has and invest more in the gaming cloud, PlayStation Remote Play is available on compatible Android smartphones and tablets, iPhone or iPad, Windows PC and Mac, as well as your PS5 and PS4 consoles. This allows more utilization from consumers and therefore more marketing efforts have to be made.

Sony's latest financial results revealed a decline year over year from 3.3 million units sold in the first quarter of the 2024 financial year to 2.4 million units sold in the first quarter of the 2025 financial year, meaning from April to June 2024. The decline was somewhat expected, however, as Sony lowered its overall PS5 sales target for this financial year to 18 million from the 21 million units it targeted last year. This itself was down from an initial target of 25 million units sold, but Sony ultimately failed to accomplish either as it ended the year on 20.8 million

** Six Sigma Implementation

Defining critical processes: Sony can identify key areas like order fulfillment, inventory management, and shipping, where defects or inefficiencies were most likely to occur.

Measuring performance: Sony can collect metrics on semi-conductor accuracy, delivery times, and customer satisfaction to understand baseline performance.

Analyzing root causes: Sony should apply statistical analysis tools to identify the root causes of inefficiencies in its processes, particularly in its supply chain and logistics operations.

Improving processes: Solutions are being implemented to address identified inefficiencies. Sony will focus on reducing order processing times, improving inventory management, and optimizing shipping routes.

Controlling outcomes: Sony is establishing control mechanisms to ensure that processes remained efficient and sustainable over time.
